Originated in February 2017, from the two names Popyeni and Oiyah, Poiyah is facilitated by the Platt Family. Poiyah assists underprivileged children.
One of its aims is to instil the culture of giving to those in need at a very early age. In attempt to get the support from the public, Poiyah wants to be the vehicle to advocate for those that are not in a position to do so. In the near future Poiyah would want other families to embrace this culture and emulate this practice.
From its origination, Windhoek based children will benefit; however, in the near future other regions will be targeted. Charles Dickens once said, “No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another.”
Poiyah calls on all family members to introduce and continue the act of human kindness and care towards the next. Poiyah has sold pre-used toys and has collected over 6K within its first three months. More initiatives are set for the year hoping to change in a small way that can mean much to the next.
